Avon Valley Adventure Park

Sightseeing attraction | Bristol | England | United Kingdom

The Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park in Bristol, England, is a sprawling attraction that uniquely combines nature, adventure, and family fun. Located in the picturesque landscape between Bristol and Bath, the park covers approximately 50 hectares along the River Avon, offering a variety of activities that will delight both children and adults. Originally established as a fruit picking farm, the park has evolved since the 1970s into a popular destination that is much more than just a typical farm. It combines elements of an amusement park, a zoo, and a nature-based experience center.

The heart of the park is its impressive variety of animals that visitors can experience up close. From traditional farm animals like goats, pigs, and ponies to more exotic residents like reptiles or birds, the park offers interactive encounters that are especially appealing to children. The hands-on animal sessions are particularly popular, allowing visitors to learn more about the residents, feed them, or even pet them. Another major attraction is the "Dinosaur Valley," where life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs transport visitors into a prehistoric world – an experience that fascinates not only young adventurers.

A wide range of play and leisure opportunities provide action-packed entertainment. The park features spacious adventure playgrounds with climbing frames, slides, and huge inflatable pillows that invite bouncing. A special attraction is the "Mini Jeep Safari," where children can drive small off-road vehicles through an obstacle course. There is also a miniature railway called the "Strawberry Line," chugging through the park's idyllic surroundings, as well as mini-golf and remote-controlled boats for added fun. In the summer, activities such as rowing on the river expand the offerings and invite guests to enjoy nature from a different perspective.

The atmosphere at the Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park is lively and family-oriented, with the entertainment team playing a key role. With shows, games, and animations, they ensure that boredom is kept at bay. The park is also known for its exceptional events that take place throughout the year. These include seasonal highlights like the spooky "FEAR at Avon Valley Scream Park" in October, which has won numerous awards for its horror mazes, or Christmas events with festive lighting and special activities.

In addition to adventures, the park also offers space for relaxation. The sprawling green spaces and the river are perfect for picnics or peaceful walks, while a nature trail with a small obstacle course encourages visitors to actively explore the surroundings. For longer stays, there is even the option to camp on-site or stay in glamping accommodations, with water sports such as paddling or kayaking offered as additional options.

The on-site dining options are convenient and family-friendly. There is a burger shack and a café that offer simple but delicious meals – such as juicy burgers or fresh snacks. For those who prefer to bring their own food, the picnic areas, some of which are covered, are perfect for a break. The facilities are clean and accessible, and the park strives to be wheelchair-friendly and accommodating for families with young children.

Overall, the Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park stands out for its great value for money and the variety of experiences that can easily turn a day trip into a full day of activities. Criticism is rare, with some visitors complaining about the additional costs for individual attractions or finding the park less appealing in bad weather. Nevertheless, the overall impression is that this place offers a successful blend of nature experience, animal encounters, and leisure fun – ideal for families looking to explore Bristol and its surroundings.

Me and my family come through our the year. During the summer, Halloween pumpkin picking / Fear. To Christmas Santa experience and the night trail. This is my FAVOURITE place to come all year round. My Boys always have a fantastic time and every year you guys change and expand it for the better. Definitely worth every penny and then some. Something for the whole family.

A woman (staff!) on a ride said me and my friend were too "big" for the ride, can't believe this! The rides ended up hurting my arm, would not come back!

We booked tickets for the Xmas event in dec 2024 and the system charged us for an extra ticket we hadn't ordered plus an extra booking fee. This didn't appear on our booking confirmation but our credit card was charged. Despite an initial response from the business requesting evidence of the payment, they are now ignoring all correspondence. Can't imagine how much money they've made from people that may not have noticed! A lovely xmas event has been spoiled by this. We won't be returning to be ripped off again!

We were there for about an hour and twenty minutes. 30 minutes in line for the Elf Express miniature train - there wasn’t an elf in sight! Just drove around in the dark. Then 10 minutes in line behind one family for marshmallows. The lights were sporadic / half weren’t working. The poor reindeer was pacing back and forth in his pen. It wasn’t a great experience.

Winter wonderland. Really disappointed with experience for Christmas, after the what I can only explain a very poor show we then had to que for 15 mins to see Santa, which he saw my 2 year old daughter for all of 25 seconds. There was no real interaction or special experience. It’s too over crowded and seems all they care about is money. It was really disappointing experience overall. I certainly will not be giving them any more of my money. No safety regulations were met within confined spaces. Toilets were dirty and locks not working. And as for waiting 25 mins for 4 donuts after ordering I was not impressed.

Myself and my two youngest sons visited during the Christmas period and I just wanted to say Thank you. Firstly I don't get out much as a single parent to special needs children but as my youngest is starting to grow up I feel trips out are getting better. The people working went above and beyond to help find my middle son (12) when for the first time he's ever wondered off by himself. Then secondly during the santa show I asked where was the best place to sit that was quietest ( They had a lovely bench right at the back) then during the performance I asked a helper if we could come back after the others had seen santa and miss part of the show to avoid all the crowd, I was then told that we could infact be shown to santa first if we held tight for 5 mins. You've made a trying day so much more manageable and I really want to thank you guys again and give you 5 stars.

The worst Christmas experience. Long queues, very overpriced, shows are disappointing, only photo with Santa for extra cost, not even few words conversation, mud everywhere, walking paths poor

I purchased tickets for the Christmas evening event for my family.Sadly, we were very disappointed with the event. The light show was adequate but the train was not what we were expecting and was a sit on ride, we thought it would be a proper train with carriages. On the website it mentioned seeing the Grinch which was nowhere to be found. There was no where to sit and the the drinks and food on offer were very expensive. The Reindeer was by nature very sweet and the Grandchildren liked this, however, for the money we paid it was most definitely not worth it and we wouldn't visit again.

Visited on a Saturday evening and all though it was busy it never felt over crowded, we have been to a few different light trails around the south west and this was right up there, we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Plenty of toilet facilities and opportunities for refreshments. Lots of lights, dinosaurs incorporated into the light trail, small fun fair, animals, outdoor ice rink, climbing frames, peddle cars, mini train, marshmallow toasting stations. Good value for money we will definitely do again.

It was our first Christmas experience here and will be our last. After paying a ridiculous amount for 4 adults and 1 child, my 5 year barely got to see santa, not a word was exchanged after queueing for over an hour after previously sitting in the so called show for around an hour b4 that. Comms would be the key here, why not tell people and give them the choice, either u queue for an hour to see santa or you can just collect your toy from the workshop. I know which 1 we would have gone for. Same with the gingerbread show, an hour wait to decorate a gingerbread in 2 mins, again offering for people to take them home would have been something, again we would have chosen this option if available. Really disappointed. Obviously I will get the same generic response that you seem to have given to all your bad reviews, but being busy is not an excuse especially when there is so much money involved.

Extremely disappointed.Worst Santa experience ever!! You will spend ages in a queue, show was very disappointing as well .You can see Santa for few seconds and If you want a picture you have to pay for it extra. My daughter struggle to pick present as there was nothing interesting to pick from. Overall we paid £90 for 2 adults and one child and I feel robbed, definitely not worth the money.

Worst Santa experience we've had!! I'm not one for leaving negative reviews, but this was a truly terrible event. We paid over £120 for two adults and two children, and for that we queued well over an hour to see Santa. When we did finally see Santa he took about 10 seconds with our children to take a photo and that was it - no interaction at all. The photos then cost additional money. We didn't manage to do the gingerbread palour or Grinch show as they had huge queues again, and our children were fed up and asked to leave early. I'd never go again.
